Ryan Ly

Senior Physiotherapist

About Me

Hi, I’m Ryan, a Senior Physiotherapist at GRIT Physio with over 10 years of experience across hospital rehab, neurological care, and leadership roles in community and private settings. I work with a wide range of patients, from older adults recovering from surgery to powerlifters returning from injury. But my approach stays the same: practical, personalised, and focused on doing the work properly.

I speak conversational Cantonese and Mandarin, which helps me connect more meaningfully with the Chinese community. I also mentor younger physios and believe strongly in shaping the next generation of clinicians through teaching, support, and accountability.

What I specialise in

  • Neurological rehabilitation: stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, brain injury
  • Bobath-trained for neuro assessment and rehab
  • Hydrotherapy and aquatic-based rehab
  • Geriatric and aged care physiotherapy
  • Powerlifting and strength-based rehab
  • Community and hospital-based rehabilitation
  • Sports injury recovery (especially football)
  • Bilingual care (Cantonese and Mandarin)
  • Mentoring and team development in allied health

Highlights of my career

I started my career in hospital rehab at Epworth and with the WorkXtra Group, building my foundation in complex rehab. Since then, I’ve held leadership roles across the allied health space, including Team Lead and Manager positions at Zenitas, Plena Healthcare, and Ignite Healthcare.

At GRIT, I lead both our Neurological Rehab and Hydrotherapy Services, supporting complex cases and helping shape our systems for long-term outcomes. I’m Bobath-trained and experienced in stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, and ABI rehab, and I’ve delivered both land-based and pool-based programs across every stage of recovery.

Whether I’m working with a neuro patient, a strength athlete, or a new grad physio, my focus stays the same: clear planning, consistent care, and always doing the work properly.

Outside of Work

Outside the clinic, I train in the gym and enjoy powerlifting, both as an athlete and as a physio. I also make music in my home studio and believe that movement, creativity, and structure are all part of how we stay connected to ourselves and to others. That mindset flows through how I treat, lead, and keep evolving as a clinician.
