From Frustration to a New Standard

GRIT wasn’t born out of a business plan—it was built out of experience.

After undergoing two spinal surgeries of his own, our founder, Nitin Madan, experienced firsthand what many patients still go through:

  • Rushed appointments
  • Generic advice
  • Treatment that didn’t work
  • No clear path forward

What frustrated him most wasn’t just the pain—it was the lack of answers. The sense that no one was going deep enough. That doing things “properly” had become optional.

That experience lit a fire.

It led Nitin to pursue elite-level learning—and to work within some of the most demanding environments in healthcare and sport. He spent years treating athletes from AFL, Melbourne Stars, Cricket Victoria, and working alongside surgical teams at Epworth Hospital.

There, he saw what made high performance systems actually work:

  • Clear plans
  • Rigorous standards
  • Constant refinement
  • No shortcuts

He thought—Why should this be reserved only for professional athletes?

GRIT was his answer. A private practice built to offer that same level of care, clarity, and precision—to everyday people. To mums, dads, teens, retirees. To anyone who wanted more than “just rest and see how it goes.”

In 2019, GRIT opened its doors.

One clinic room. One physio. One mission:

To raise the standard of care. And to never let a patient feel unseen again.

But it wasn’t long before the vision grew. Because real rehab doesn’t happen in isolation. And excellence doesn’t happen alone.

That’s when Div joined the journey.

Not just as a podiatrist—but as a brother, a clinician, and a natural extension of the same mindset: Obsessed with detail. Driven by outcomes. Never satisfied with average. Both Nitin and Div shared the belief that great care is built, not rushed—and that when you combine systems, passion, and accountability, patients thrive.

Since then, GRIT has grown into a team of over 25 professionals (past and present) —physiotherapists, podiatrists, dietitians, speech pathologists, allied health assistants, and a world-class admin and leadership team.

We’ve expanded from Glen Iris to homes across Melbourne. We’ve grown from private practice into aged care, NDIS, and multidisciplinary streams. And we’ve delivered over 65,000 sessions to help more than 10,000 patients move, feel, and live better.

But some things haven’t changed:

We still treat every patient like family. We still believe in doing things properly. And we’re still chasing the same goal—to get it right, every time.
